Effective July 13, 2025, Northside Friends Meeting has relocated to 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., in the Edgewater Presbyterian building. Constructed in 1929 as a community center, the four-story stone edifice is home for partner organizations serving needs of area residents, as well as a home for creatives and theater companies. We’re delighted to establish our relationship with this enduring community partner. For the past 15 months, Northside Friends Meeting has been hosted by Chicago Friends School, which has also relocated following the sale of. the property to developers.

Enter Northside Friends Meeting for Worship space on Kenmore Ave.

Northside Friends Meeting’s new worship space is located on the third floor of the Edgewater Presbyterian building at 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Friends will enter from the Kenmore Ave. entrance on the building’s west side. With some street parking available, Meeting is one block from the Red Line Bryn Mawr El stop, and the Broadway 36 bus stops nearby. A permanent exterior ramp and interior elevator ease access for everyone.

Last Meeting at JASC -- closing the door on an era

Our long-standing community partner, the Japanese American Service Committee, hosted NFM for more than 20 years before relocating to Chicago’s North Center neighborhood following the sale of its property. We will always value our bonds with JASC and CFS, but ultimately Spirit led us to our new location.

Every Committee at NFM was involved in the process, with the Ad Hoc Space Search and House Committees carrying much of the burden. Friends had recently reorganized and refreshed our Library before packing up the accumulation of 25 years residence at JASC, and has repeated that process for the move from CFS. House Committee oversaw packing and moving. Technology Committee reinstalled electronic equipment supporting our hybrid Meeting for Worship. As we settle in we can celebrate features that make our newest home more accessible: an exterior ramp for better physical access, elevator, handicapped-accessible restroom, and soon, hearing-assistive technology.

Many thanks to all Friends who fostered and furthered this monumental task! with special thanks to Friends from other ILYM Meetings who held us in the Light through this process – their support was tangible and valuable. It takes a village, they say, and our village stepped up when called! Truly, Northside is a place where we can “do hard things together with joy.”
