Quakers Invited as JASC Hosts 'Ireicho' List of 125,000 Unjustly Interned

  • JASC 5700 North Lincoln Avenue Chicago, IL, 60659 United States (map)

The Japanese American Service Center (JASC), along with other Japanese American institutions in Chicago, is hosting the “Ireicho" (a book of names containing all unjustly incarcerated individuals during WWII of Japanese ancestry). A ceremony honoring camp survivors and their descendants will take place on Sunday, November 9, 5-6 PM, at the JASC building located at 5700 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago. This will be an interfaith ceremony to which Northside Friends have been invited. Chicago's Japanese American community has expressed their gratitude for the many Friends who aided the Japanese Americans during and after the war.

Because of the long relationship JASC has had with Northside Friends (Northside held Meeting for Worship at JASC for decades), they encourage others from our community to attend. If you would like to go, please email Friend Suzanne Ruch who will let the organizer, Rev. Patti Nakai, retired Buddhist minister, know of your interest.
